Sindh Assembly passes controversial local government bill amid strike in the province and protest in the house

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) jointly passed the controversial Sindh People's Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) on October 2, 2012 against the popular will of the people. The bill was passed amid protest in the house and shutter-down and vehicle-jam strike in the province, however two districts of Karachi remained open.
