At UNHRC, India slams Pak for nurturing terror

ndia has again slammed Pakistan for "preaching and nurturing" terrorism at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), accusing it of violating human rights in both PoK and Balochistan.

Raising the issue at the 35th session of UNHRC, the government said Pakistan needed to rein in its "compulsive hostility" towards India and acknowledge that the entire state of J&K is an integral part of India.

UNHCR to help Balochistan varsity set up refugees studies centre

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) signed on Wednesday a partnership agreement with the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences.
The collaboration is aimed at establishing a Centre for Refugees and Migration Studies (CRMS), besides providing training to refugee teachers and creating business studies opportunity for refugee students at the university.

IS claims 2 Chinese nationals kidnapped from Quetta killed

The militant Islamic State (IS) group on Thursday claimed it had killed two Chinese nationals who were abducted from Quetta last month, BBC reported.

China and Pakistan both have said they are probing the IS claim that two Chinese teachers kidnapped in Pakistan have been killed.

Grower’s protest march against water shortage in Sindh



Growers from Sajawal in district Thatta held 8 kilometer long protest march against water shortage in the district. The protesters said that 62 waterways of the district are facing water shortage.  On the other hand, growers in Ghulamulah town of district Thatta held protest demonstration against water shortage. Meanwhile growers of Bhan town in district Dadu have also protested against water shortage.

Sindh gives top priority to education once again

Keeping in line with previous years, education has been given top priority in the Sindh budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year with an increase of 24%.

Presenting the budget in the Sindh Assembly on Monday, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the increase in non-salary allocation for the education sector is much higher and has been increasing over the years.

A total of Rs202 billion has been allocated to the education department in the new budget, a huge jump from its previous allocation of Rs163 billion. Rs21 billion has been allocated for education in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) from the total of Rs244 billion for ongoing and new schemes in all sectors. Education gets 6.1% of the total Rs344 billion ADP in 2017-18, including foreign funding, federal funds and district budgets.

200000 fishermen unemployed due to occupation of lakes



Pakistan Fosherfolk Forum leader Mohammad Ali Shah has said that two hundred thousand fishermen and women are unemployed due to occupation of sweet water bodies in the province. He said that nine Sindh province ministers have occupied the sweet water lakes in Sindh.

‘Suspicious’ shoot-out case sent to IG for inquiry

The administrative judge of the antiterrorism courts, Karachi, directed on Thursday the provincial police officer to conduct an inquiry into a suspicious shoot-out case.

The police informed the court that Rashid Imdad sustained wounds during an encounter with a police party of the Rizvia Society police station in a Golimar locality a couple of days ago and an illicit weapon was found in his possession.

Umerkot sanitary worker dies after doctors refuse treatment of 'unclean' patient

A sanitary worker who fell unconscious while cleaning a drain lost his life after doctors at Civil Hospital Umerkot allegedly refused to treat him until his body was washed.

Thirty-year-old Irfan and his three fellow workers had stepped down into a manhole at Chhore Road Friday for a routine inspection when they fainted due to suffocation, the victim's brother, Parvez, told Dawn.

Hundreds of protesters took out a protest against water shortage in Mirpurkhas area. The protesters also occupied the office of the Director, Nara canal. On the other hand, a large number of growers held protest demonstration and gave sit in outside Ghotki Feeder in Daharki against water shortage. Growers also protested in Sim Sorahdini against water shortage. Meanwhile women of Faridabad town have protested against water shortage in the area.
