Prominent Sindhi writer Hiro Thakur gets award in India

Sahatiya Academy India has conferred an awarded of best translation to the prominent Sindhi writer and translator, Hiro Thakur in Chennai yesterday. Thakar was also given an award a few years ago for his original work. This year he has been given an award for the best translation of Kirshan Chandar's short stories in Sindhi. While receiving the award, he was wearing the traditional and cultural Sindhi cap and shawl 'Ajrak'. In a gathering of hundreds of writers and persons of letters held in Chennai, he was asked about the Ajrak, where he told his fellow writers that Ajrak print is as old as Moen-jo-Daro itself, a five thousand years old icon of Indus Civilization located in the district Larkana of Sindh.
