An International Monitory Fund (IMF) mission held a meeting with the Government of Sindh yesterday. Several issues were discussed in the meeting including the mechanism of National Financial Commission (NFC) award and other development and disaster support issues. The Sindh Government delegation headed by Chief Minister of Sindh Qaim Ali Shah said that Federal Government was allocating annually five billion rupees to Sindh but after eighteenth constitutional amendment, the share has reached 40 billion rupees. The Sindh delegation said that the Sindh is the largest contributor of the taxes to the federation particularly in terms of the sales taxes. He also shared with the delegation that at least 9 million people were displaced during the flood of 2010-11. Sindh Government representatives appealed to the international institutions for supporting Sindh concerning development. An agreement was also signed. Read details in daily Awami Awaz
