By Ghous Pirzado

On this Sunday I succeeded to meeting with a transgender Ms. Anjou the candidate for PS. 130 from Gulshan
Anjou
Hadid Karachi that constituency I live. We are only human other than Transgender, offering the introduction he said in starting when I sit and took start of discussion in her one room house top of the building on th
e roof. His way of talking was full confidence and really was wonder full for me.

We haven’t separate rights to male and female. We are begging to take two times meal, why? We are uneducated, we haven’t job, haven’t heath facilities you gave other communities, we haven’t our home. These are our rights to get I came in politics in this male dominance society and submitted form for the seat of Provincial Assembly. Anjoo was talking frequently and wanted to tell every pain he got from the society. I am 40 years old intermediate transgender, living in Sindhi Goth Pipiri District malir from ten years, basically I belong to Multan, he said.

I am already Social worker, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT of GENDER INTERACTIVE ALLIENCE SINDH (Offered Visiting Card) and working for the welfare of impoverished communities. I am not beggar but I have a shop which is our source of income. He said. I have focused on the problems of transgender communities but generally I am working for the issues of human kind. I am struggling against shortage of water, to build the roads in our katchi basti, and my main goal is the strengthening of Education our society for female, male and transgender on equal basis.

Surprising me Anjou said that I have been working with different NGos since 10 to 12 years. He had worked with UN-Aids aids control program. He also had worked with new light NGO in Saddar Karachi as social organizer; he displayed a picture of ex Minister Shazia Mari awarding him the shield on making of NICS of transgender in Karachi.

He told that many of the transgenders have the residential problems so that the government should have to make the shelters for them in all over the country. He said that main issue of the transgender in Pakistan is the threat of Aids but they have lack of awareness regarding the Aids and the Government hasn’t taken any initiatives in this regard.

He said now due to election campaign he has resign from the NGO Job and fully giving the priority to his election campaign. He said many NGOs and individuals are supporting me and one of the organization arranged vehicle and two security guards for my election campaign. He said that communities are appreciating this initiative and the assured for their votes but he has realization that he didn’t get victory against political mafias, but I have made the linkages with society so I will continue my work for the poor communities even if I would be failure to get the vote from the community.

He said that, transgender have also many friends and lovers but they are time being friends, men play with our emotions and then disappear from our eyes but we haven’t problem and we do not accept something from them. How would we expect from our so called lover men when we are disowned by our parents. He stopping the tears passed the sentence to me.

He said I am trying to improve my English spoken language and computer skills, and then would I make our own organization on human rights bases. He said that there are 18000 to 20000 transgenders are existing in Karachi city facing the many issues.
